Event: Community, Connection, and Big Next Steps
On September 9, Friends of the Public Bank East Bay gathered with more than 40 dedicated advocates and activists at Hella Bees in Downtown Oakland for a happy hour full of food, music, and conversation.
We welcomed colleagues representing an array of community priorities, including affordable workforce housing, small business development, clean energy infrastructure, and community finance.
New connections sparked ideas for how these priorities can work together to build a thriving East Bay.
We’re deeply grateful to our hosts at Hella Bees, Chef Tariq Abdullah of Seoul Food, DJ Lanners of the Homespace, and everyone who joined us to celebrate and strategize.
This was more than an event; it was a testament to the powerful coalition behind public banking in the East Bay. Together, we’re building a financial system that puts people and community first.
As we get closer to opening, we are creating an Advisory Council as well as bringing in new volunteers and advocates. If you want to join us let us know. We’ll be happy to invite you to a virtual welcoming session https://www.publicbankeastbay.org/connect
